Classical music

KLAS-si-kul MYOO-zik

[English]

That music which was written in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The chief composers of this style of music are HaydnMozart, and early Beethoven. This music flourished chiefly in Vienna, and is characterized by its periodic structure, and the expanded and developed length as compared to that of the Baroque. The term "classical music" is now also erroneously taken to mean any music of the Baroque through late-Romantic eras.
